2. Find a screening room
• Talk to a like-minded group at a local college. They can reserve a room on campus for free.
• Hotels will offer a good rate for a meeting room if you can offer them food and drink business from moviegoers.
• or use a gym, library, restaurant, air plane hanger, high school or community college theater, small movie theater...
3. Buy or rent a projector. Connect it to a DVD player or laptop computer.
• Buy a projector at Staples, OfficeDepot, BestBuy or similar stores. Keep it for future movies or return it if you don't like it. Or buy a used one on Craigslist.
• Rent a projector from an audio/visual rental company or from a large hotel that has meeting rooms.
4. Publicize your screening on the Internet, Facebook, Twitter and with local TV and radio reporters. We will promote it also.
Get a local talk radio station to sponsor it and have their hosts speak at the movie screening. A radio host could pack your screening!
WHY BUY A SCREENING LICENSE?
We've spent a lot of time, effort and investment to produce this movie. Showing it in public, either for pay or for free, is stealing the product of our work. If you bought a DVD, download or stream this is only for home viewing only. Public screening of the movie (free or paid admission) without a screening license is a violation of federal laws and may subject you to civil and criminal penalties. We monitor the internet for unauthorized public screenings and starting in December 2011 we will start prosecuting violators. You may also be responsible for reimbursing us for our legal fees if we hire a law firm to take you to court.
