Dr. Paul Smith joined the staff of Clearwater Valley Hospital in north central Idaho as general surgeon in 2003.  He specialized in general and vascular surgery for 23 years for the Kaiser Permanente system in Oregon. Dr. Smith was in private surgical practice for two years in Weiser, Idaho.  

Dr. Smith received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his medical degree from the State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center.  He completed his internship through the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center and his residency through Emanuel Hospital in Portland, OR, where he served as chief resident.

He has authored several journal articles and was included in the 2004-05 edition of the Guide to America’s Top Surgeons.  He is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He earned a certificate in Dispute Resolution from the Willamette University School of Law.  Dr. Smith is a member of the Idaho Medical Association and the American Medical Association.
